Landside Operations Break Two Records in October

On 12 October 2007, Southampton Container Terminals Ltd (SCT) handled a record breaking 2276 lorries in a 24 hour period.  The previous record of 2268 lorries in a 24 hour period was set on 27 September 2007.

Less than a week later on the 16 October 2007, the record for the number of lorries handled during a 12 hour period (on the day shift) was broken.  With the team servicing 1381 vehicles in the 12 hours, with the number of bookings put out in a single hour reaching 160 and the average turnaround time of 28 minutes.

Talking about the records, Steve McCrindle, Landside Manager, SCT, said:

“I’m delighted to see that we are breaking records and at the same time maintaining service levels for our customers.  The record for the number of lorries handled in a 24 hour period was set on a day that started off with thick fog, which makes the record that bit more impressive.”
