Since the introduction of Simplified VBS over 15 months ago, efficiency at SCT has improved vastly and turnaround times experienced by hauliers and users of the terminal have been greatly reduced.

Interest in VBS and the gate logic system associated with it has now extended over international waters with representatives from Hamburg, Rotterdam and Japan visiting SCT to learn best practice.

The Japanese representatives were so impressed with what they saw during their visit that they have promoted the concept of VBS to colleagues within the Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport (Japan’s equivalent to the UK’s Department for Transport) and they too are asking for more information.

Derek Smith, Business Development Manager, SCT, said:

“Everybody involved with VBS is extremely proud of its success here at SCT.  We are delighted to be able to show representatives from other countries how the system works and how it has had a positive impact on terminal operations.”
