SCT has started to implement IBM’s Maximo asset management software to improve the overall maintenance and technical management of the company’s assets.
The new software package offers a solution that covers work order and data management, planning, budgeting, reporting, asset performance tracking, purchasing and stock management.
Talking about the new software, John Maybanks, Head of Engineering, SCT, said:
"This new software will greatly improve our programmed maintenance of equipment including cranes and straddle carriers which in turn will support increased availability of this machinery for operational requirements."
David Bowers, Planning & Quality Manager, SCT, added:
“We have chosen to implement Maximo at the terminal to ensure that we can manage our assets as efficiently as possible and ultimately improve configurability. The software also provides integration between the company’s existing procurement and accounts systems.
One of the major strengths of Maximo is that it can be configured to push relevant information to users rather than having to repeatedly search for information. The interface style is similar to shopping on the internet and could be compared to with something like ‘My e-bay’ or ‘My Amazon.”
