SCT saw the busiest month it has ever recorded during October with a record 161,000 TEU passing over the terminal’s quay.
October was the first month to see a full complement of vessels carrying the new business from the Grand Alliance, won in September, calling at the terminal. This racked up a total of 95 vessel visits during the month from both shipping lines and feeder operators, compared to 69 vessel visits during October 2005, an increase of over 37%.
On 21 October 2006, the shipside operations team completed a record breaking total of 2,643 crane moves plus one yacht lift in a 12 hour period.
Commenting on the record, Laurence Smith, Marine Manager, SCT, said:
“It’s always good news to hear that we have broken a terminal record. It is thanks to the hard work of everyone involved in shipside operations, from the Crane Drivers to the Planners and many others too that this record was achieved. Watch this space for November’s figures! ”
