On Thursday 8 May 2008 the Landside Operations Department at Southampton Container Terminals (SCT) broke two terminal records in one 24 hour period.
The first record to be beaten was the number of import containers being delivered by road and being handled in a 24 hour period, a total of 2,076 import containers were handled. The second record to be beaten was the number of import containers being delivered by road and rail combined and being handled in a 24 hour period, a total of 2,482 import containers were handled.
Talking about the record, Steve McCrindle, Landside Manager, SCT, said:
“We’re delighted to have broken two terminal records in the same 24 hours. Our ability to continually break these records is down to the hard work of the entire landside operations team, my thanks go to each and every one of them.”
The Empty Park also reached a milestone since its introduction in 2003 with the millionth move having taken place on the 13 May 2008.
