SCT has pledged its support to Business Southampton and joined over 50 Southampton based businesses in becoming a member of the City Champions programme. The aim of Business Southampton is to encourage Southampton’s key and most influential businesses to work together in order to challenge and address issues as well as maximise opportunities for the Southampton City Region.
Talking about why SCT joined, Campbell Mason, Managing Director, said:
“SCT employs over 800 people, many of whom live in the Southampton region. The container terminal is also the centre piece of a number of activities in Southampton related to cargo handling. As such a key employer and member of the business community, it is natural that we have a voice in determining what happens around us and how the city is developed. We very much look forward to working with the other City Champions to fulfil the aims of Business Southampton.”
Sally Lynskey, CEO, Business Southampton, said:
"Southampton Container Terminals is one of Southampton's most respected and innovative organisations, and we are extremely proud to be welcoming it on board as a City Champion. All at SCT have shown great enthusiasm and a whole hearted belief for what we are aiming to achieve at Business Southampton, and we are delighted to be working alongside them".
