Wednesday the 3rd of May saw Southampton Container Terminals achieve a record throughput of vehicles through the gates in a 12 hour period.
The record day started at 07:00 hours on Wednesday where we serviced 75 trucks in the first hour and finished 12 hours later at 19:00 hrs handling a total of 1,152 vehicles.
The busiest period of the day begun at midday with 120 vehicles being serviced and we continued to service 120 vehicles right up to 17:00 hours. During this 12 hour window we also saw 974 export containers arrive at the terminal and 971 import containers leave. This means that on average each lorry handled 1.7 containers.

Not only did SCT service a record number of vehicles in this period, we managed to turn the vehicles around from “gate in” to “gate out” in less than 40 minutes.
The stack profile for Wednesday was 19,855 total TEU, 12,379 TEU of imports and 7,295 TEU of exports.
