In February SCT achieved accreditation to the Institute of Training with 21 SCT employees, who work in various areas of the terminal, becoming Associate Members of the Institute.

Each employee was required to attend and pass a course provided by the Institute of Training to give them the skills to deliver effective work place training to fellow employees.  As workplace trainers, they are responsible for providing one to one training for new starters as well as refresher training for existing employees.

Steve Ware, Training Coordinator, explains the reasons behind pursuing the accreditation:

“It was identified that by improving workplace training there could be a direct benefit to the individual employee, the company and ultimately SCT’s customers through improved quality of service.  In achieving the accreditation to the Institute, we have been able to provide the skills and training to our own employees to deliver proactive and tailored one to one training to new starters and also refresher training to existing employees."
