On Sunday 15 July 2007, a team of 17 ladies from Southampton Container Terminals Ltd (SCT) will take part in the ‘Race for Life’ on Southampton Common. The team is made up of ladies that work at the container terminal as well as some fellow female family and friends.
The race is the single largest female race in the UK and is held every year to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK. All team members have been in training over the last couple of months to ensure they are able to walk, jog or run the 5km course.
The overall target of the team is to raise £2,000 and to help with the fundraising efforts, SCT has donated £1,000 to the teams’ fundraising pot. To date almost £1,600 has already been pledged, so the team are well on their way.
Talking about her involvement, Jane Summerfield, SCT’s HR Manager said:
“Being part of the SCT team for Race for Life has given me the motivation to regain my fitness, which I had been meaning to do for months! Having the added incentive of raising money for such a worthwhile cause and the benefit of being part of a team has definitely helped. Thanks to everyone who has donated money so far!”
