After several weeks of installation works and an investment of £750,000, SCT’s new gantry, used to store refrigerated (reefer) containers, is now complete and operational. The works included the construction of the steel frame, bolting the frame to the ground and installing the appropriate power supplies to power the gantry.
The gantry has capacity to accommodate over 200 reefer containers and enables terminal operators to carry out the required checks using specially designed walkways.
Talking about the investment, Campbell Mason, Managing Director, said:
“The completion of this project is an important step in ensuring that the terminal has the ability to handle the growth in reefer traffic. We now regularly handle products such as lamb from New Zealand and fruit from the Caribbean, all of which require to be plugged into reefer points.
