Charles Aspinell, Administration Manager at SCT has been awarded a personal commendation from one of the Royal Navy’s highest ranking officers. Charles who is a Royal Naval Reservist received the commendation in recognition of his commitment and the invaluable contribution he has made to both the Fleet and the Royal Naval Reserve (RNR).
At a recent ceremony held onboard HMS Victory in Portsmouth, Commander in Chief Naval Home Command and Second Sea Lord Vice Admiral Adrian Johns CBE ADC presented the commendation to Charles.
Commander Aspinell is attached to HMS King Alfred, Portsmouth’s Royal Naval Reserve unit. He is head of one of the RNR’s newest specialisations, C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) and has been a leading light in developing the training package for this new branch, producing skilled reservists who are better able to integrate into the regular service and who are used extensively throughout the Fleet.
On receiving the commendation, Charles said:
“I feel honoured. This has definitely been one of the highlights of my naval career so far. I am proud to have served my country and grateful to the Royal Navy for the opportunities to visit far off places and to take the skills acquired over the last 36 years in command, leadership and management back to SCT.”
