SCT is 'Highly Commended' in DP World Global Safety & Environment Awards

Photo of interactive kiosks' project teamIn February 2006 SCT installed five interactive kiosks in and around the terminal area.  Since then the company has been ‘highly commended’ for the work by DP World, SCT’s major shareholder, in their 2006 Global Safety & Environment Awards.

The interactive kiosks formed part of a series of initiatives to improve health and safety on the terminal as well as general communications with employees who don’t have regular access to a PC, some 80% of the workforce.

The kiosks are positioned in mess rooms and general areas around the terminal and accessible to all.  They utilize touch screen technology, a rugged keyboard and tracker ball which allows for great flexibility in their use.

The team involved in putting the project together and the winners of the ‘highly commended’ award included Adam Bailey, Web Developer; Sean Brophy, Purchasing Controller; Diane Hargreaves, Marketing & Communications Coordinator; Trevor Harris, Safety & Labour Officer; Daniel Parker, Systems Support and Phil Waghorn, Safety Officer.

On receiving the award, Phil Waghorn, said:

“The kiosks are a great tool to use in communicating important health and safety information to all employees.  They are interactive and provide easy access for the wider workforce to safety procedures, risk assessments, and training and safety videos as well as other company information.”
