Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip to the theatre to take in a pantomime with the kids and this is exactly what Steve Philips and Mark Hughes, two Terminal Operators at Southampton Container Terminals (SCT), organised for the children of SCT employees.
The company purchased a total of 200 tickets for the Nuffield Theatre’s production of Peter Pan on two separate nights during December. The tickets were then given out to employees in return for a £5 per ticket donation. The money raised, a total of £1000, was then donated to The Cedar School in Redbridge, a purpose built school for physically disabled children aged between 3 and 16 years.
Talking about the donation, Mark Hughes, Terminal Operator, SCT, said:
“Christmas is very much a time for children and families, so it was great to be able to get so many of them to the theatre for the pantomime. What is even more special is that we have been able to donate £1000 to such a worthwhile charity.”
Jonathan Howells, Headteacher, The Cedar School, added:
“We would like to thank everyone at SCT for their very generous Christmas gift and hope everyone enjoyed the pantomime. We will be able to use the money to buy some much needed communication equipment for the children to use in our library.”
