Southampton Container Terminals (SCT) has been able to increase the number of vehicle slots at Transfer Area 3 by over 25% following the completion of the resurfacing works on the new land taken on in September.  Each of the three transfer areas now service up to 99 vehicles at any one time.

The access to Transfer Area 3 as well as to the Border Inspection Post (BIP) is now directly from the roundabout.  Please click here to view a diagram of the new layout.

Talking about the changes, Steve McCrindle, Landside Manager, SCT, said:

“With the increased number of slots now available at Transfer Area 3, we are now able to increase the number of vehicles held in this area, therefore making the system more efficient.  The access straight from the roundabout and segregation of berth vehicles and lorries is also much safer, it has also improved the exit route for lorries leaving
Transfer Area 3.”
