Southampton Container Terminals Ltd (SCT) continues to expand the area of the container stack. 23.5 additional acres have been taken on since the start of the year.
The location and configuration of Transfer Area 3 has been changed (diagram of the new configuration below) to maximise the use of the new land and, following the completion of the civil work on the new land, Transfer Area 3 has also increased in size.
Talking about the change, Julian Walker, Head of Operations, SCT, said:
“Relocating Transfer Area 3 to part of the additional land that we have taken on has enabled us to turn its previous location into valuable stacking space for containers and to maximise the efficient use of the new land. Users of the terminal will experience little change; however as the modifications progress, the flow and access for traffic will improve significantly.”
