Steve Wright, Security Supervisor (‘D’ Shift) has been awarded with the prestigious, national ‘Outstanding Award’ from the British Security Industry Association (BSIA). Steve is pictured above (left) receiving his award from Sir Ken Knight, Commissioner for the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority at the BSIA’s annual awards ceremony in July.
Steve received the ‘Outstanding Award’ in recognition of the first-aid that he provided at the scene of a major incident involving an overturned straddle carrier. Assisted by John Chase, Security Officer (‘A’ Shift), who had been the first to arrive at the scene, Steve was instrumental in stabilising the condition of the driver until the arrival of the Emergency Services; he then remained on the terminal to assist with the control and safety of the emergency vehicles and personnel.
Commenting on the award, Julian Walker, Head of Operations, SCT, said:
“We are delighted to see Steve recognised not only regionally, but nationally too, for his first aid skills and assistance on the scene of a major incident at SCT. It also highlights the high level of service provided on the terminal by the security personnel, particularly concerning immediate response to incidents.
