Naomi House Children’s Hospice, The Marine Society & Sea Cadets and Piam Brown Children’s Ward are the three charities to benefit from donations totalling £50,000 by Southampton Container Terminals (SCT).

SCT’s donations will help Naomi House to pay for either a palliative care nurse for approximately nine months, cover catering costs for nearly a year or cover their play team costs for approximately two and a half years.  The Marine Society & Sea Cadets will put their donation toward their new training ship appeal and Piam Brown will use the money to purchase much needed equipment for the ward.

SCT has recently placed an order for two new super post-panamax quayside gantry cranes with Liebherr Cranes.  As part of the procurement process and in conjunction with Liebherr Cranes, SCT will be donating funds to all three worthwhile charities.

Talking about the donation, Campbell Mason, Managing Director, SCT, said:

“We have purchased the two new cranes to ensure that we, as a terminal operator, are able to service our expanding customer base.  It is then pleasing to know that at the same time, these donations will help these charities carry on with the vital work they do in our local community for the benefit of people in need.”

On receiving the donation, Jill Livingstone, Corporate Fundraiser, Naomi House, said:

“We are delighted with this wonderful donation from Southampton Container Terminals Ltd.  Naomi House relies on the generosity of people in the community to continue its work.  This type of support allows us to provide crucial care services, free of charge, to children and their families who need it most.”

Pat O Leary, Director, Liebherr Cranes, added:

“We are pleased to see local Southampton charities benefit as a direct result of Liebherr’s continued working relationship with SCT.  Each of the three charities plays a vital role in the local community and we are proud to be associated with them through SCT.”
