Southampton Container Terminals (SCT) has now placed an order with Liebherr Cranes for two additional super post-panamax gantry cranes each with an outreach of 22 containers wide, one of which will be a replacement for crane 8. 

The order represents an investment in excess of £10 million and will be in addition to the two super post-panamax cranes which will be commissioned into operation in June this year.

Talking about the news, Campbell Mason, Managing Director, SCT, said:

“We are delighted to announce this order and look forward to working with Liebherr Cranes toward commissioning of these additional cranes in August next year.  We will then have four new super post-panamax cranes, each with an outreach of 22 containers wide operating on the terminal.”
